SHRIPAD SHRI VALLABHA , the first direct incarnation of LORD DATTATREYA was born in Pithapuram ( near Kakinada, AP ) in the 14th century. HIS
parents were Appalaraju & Sumatabai. It so happened that on one Amavasya , THERE WAS a Shradh Ceremony at home & tradition was that the
brahmins would eat 1st before all others. However , a Snannyasi turned up at the back door & asked for food. Seeing this strange sannyasi & his hallowed face,
Sumantabai was convinced he was indeed no ordinary figure. Disregarding all traditional norms, the lady fed the reveed sage who blessed her saying ," MOTHER ,
I AM VERY PLEASED WITH YOU , ASK FORWHATEVER BOON YOU WANT ". SUMANTABAI ANSWERED , " LET THE WORD MOTHER (AMMA ) AS YOU ADDRESSED
ME BECOME TRUE & REAL MAY YOU BE BORN TO ME."THE SANNYASI SAID , " so be it " & disaapeared. In course of time , SHRIPAD SHRI VALLBHA was born to Sumantabai.
The revered sain who visited her house was LORD dATTATREYA.
