Shri Sai Leela April 1983

Akhand Shri Sai Nama Saptaham
For the first time the numerous Sai devotees of Twin Cities (Hyderabad, Secunderabad) and Shirdi Sai Mission, A. P. Centre conceived the idea of celebrating Akhand Shri Sai Nama Saptaham, recently. The Saptaham was inaugurated by Dr. Sai Kumar with a number of Bhajan parties leading a colourful procession from Shri Ganesh Temple near Secunderabad Railway Station and proceeded to Darji Temple in Regimental Bazar, the venue of the Saptaham.
Daily Sai Sahasranama Archanas both in the morning and evening and continuous Sai Nama Sankeertan round the clock were done. Sai Bhakta Shiromani Shri G. V. R. Naidujee, graced the inaugural function. The Akhand Sai Nama Saptaham was memorable for many reasons. For the first time in our twin cities such a grand solemn ceremony was conducted with great spiritual fervour, dedication and devotion enthralling the numerous Sai devotees thronging throughout the day.
On the second day of saptaham, Poojya Neelakatha Babaji visited and conducted Shri Sai Nama, Sankeertan himself giving the sacred refrain "Om Sai Shri Sai Jai Jai Sai". It was a highly soul-stirring experience for the large assembly of Sai devotees. Among the distinguished visitors on other days were notably, H. H. Swamiji of Veerabrahma Ashram, Shri Nagasai, and Chief Minister's wife Smt., Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy, and several Sai devotee luminaries. All the seven days, the Akhand Nama Sankeertan was carried on in intense devotional ecstasy keeping up the refrain "Om Sai Shri Sai Jai Jai Sai" round the clock. Indeed, a wonderful and unforgettable experience for Sai devotees of twin cities.
On the last day there was a huge concourse of more than 5000 devotees, when a colourful poornahuti function was performed with Anna Purna (a huge mound of cooked rice) in the centre richly adorned with glittering lights and coloured rangoli designs circumscribing was a feast to the eyes and it infused a rare atmosphere of devotional ecstasy. All the seven days Annadanam to the large concourse of devotees visiting throughout the day, was a strikingly significant factor of the saptaham. specially, the -magnificent assistance in coin and kind of Sai devotees and tremendous service and efforts of Sai Bhakta Sevaks contributed in no small measure to the grand success of the saptaham. This new rich experience should inspire confidence in Sai devotees to have many more saptahams in course of time, which would engender the right environment replete with Sai brotherhood, oneness of all religions and selfless service to the poor and suffering which form the outstanding tenets exemplified in the 19th/20th century by Shri Sai Nath, the sampurna Avatar of Shri Dattatreya.
