Bapu Saheb Jog was Supervisor
in the P.W. Department a Governament service. After his retirement in 1900, he
along with his wife came to Shirdi to live. His name is Sakharam Hari called
with affection Bapusaheb. He along with his wife came to Shirdi on Ramnavami
day. The couple had no children and after retirement was in search of peace so,
Baba allowed them to stay in Shirdi.
After Megha’s death entrusted
the work of worship and arti daily in masjid and chavadi until Baba’s
mahasamadhi. Both the couple had lot of reverence for Baba and occupied
themselves in serving him in many ways. Baba gave him darshan as Akkalkot Swami.
Jog served Baba with so much dedication and reverence that he and his
wife daily used to get up at 3 AM in the morning and have bath with cold water
drawn from Dikshitwada’s well. Then Jog would do his sandhya puja arti.
Jog used to read and explain
‘Jnaneshwari” and Eknath Bhagwat’ in Sathe’s Wada, to the audience. He would
help in preparation of naivedya and after the afternoon arti; he would go home
with one guest sent by Baba for lunch. In the afternoon about 3.30, he would
again visit the masjid for some time and in the evening return to read Eknath
Bhagwat. When Baba wanted anybody to listen to Jnaneshwari or Eknath Bhagwat, he
would send them to Jog. Wherever Baba rested, there Jog would go with his Arti
and worship Baba this way it went on until he attained Mahasamadhi. To enable
devotees to sail through the rough weathers and stroms of life Baba suggested
reading of sacred books or pothis of saints to Jog it was Jnaneshwari and
Eknathi Bhagwat.
After his wife passed away
since he had, no children he let go all worldly attachments and became a
sanyasi thus attaining the blessings of Sai.
After Baba attained Samadhi on Tuesday on Wednesday morning, he appeared
in Laxman mama’s dream drawing him and said ‘come and do the Kakad arti
Bapusaheb thinks I am dead and wont come.’ Laxman mama did the arti amongst
protests from all, Jog realizing his ignorance went, and did his afternoon arti
as usual, as Baba for us is a reality, existence to feel whenever we yearn for.
