Sri Sainath very often said my word is law, what I say will happen. Once harvesting in shirdi was completed and the food grains had been stored in a yard. During one hot summer afternoon, Shri Sai said to Kondaji Sutar ‘go your field is ablaze’. Kondaji rushed to his granary but all was fine and okay. He returned and told Sai that He made him run needlessly but Sai said ‘turn back and see’. Indeed, to his horror Kondaji saw smoke bellowing from the stacks of sheaves. Devotees ran helter shelter but none dared to douse the fire, which now threatened to engulf the entire store yard. Everyone appealed to Shri Sai to save the crops. Where upon He went to the yard and sprinkled some water round the stack of sheaves. Saying ‘only this stack will burn and nothing else’ and so it happened
However Kondaji was upset as his stack of sheaves were burnt. Sri Sai assured him that he will be duly compensated and he was as Sai’s word is law.
