I dread mornings when it is time to read
the news paper. Ignorance is bliss they say and how right it is. Every murder,
robbery, rapes and hooliganism is but dreaded news and a thought process which
everyday asks you the same question. Are we really human beings? Today’s news
made me cry like I lost a close relative of mine. Nothing prepared me for the
photographs which I was seeing it was of the one horned rhinoceros which is
lying bleeding with its horn cut of and shot at by the poachers.
Early morning in Shirdi after Kakad Arathi
one gets to hear bhajans and one in it says ‘Sai meri raksha karna Baba meri
raksha karna’ (Oh! Sai safeguard me Oh! Baba protect me). We pray to Baba to
protect us the same Sainath who said I live in all living beings and shown us
instances where animals are fed and His hunger is satiated.
Feeling of helplessness comes over when one
knows he/she cannot do anything to help in this situation.
The only thing came to mind is to went my
pain in writing to all Sai devotees who love Sai and follow Sai.
The poacher must have gone to such an
extent only because there are buyers for such items like skin of the animals
etc. when we strive towards avoiding such products we may be able to curb
little of these happenings and in a way protecting the ‘Jeev’ (life) in who Sai
is present. Tough it may sound but we need to start somewhere to start really
following Sainath and not just by worship but by the deeds He tried to inculcate
in us.
Poachers cut off rhino horn in Kaziranga
KAZIRANGA, Sept 26 – A female rhinoceros was left
bleeding after poachers sawed off its horn and cut off
a part of its right ear after shooting it, while the carcass of another with
its horn removed was found today at the Kaziranga National Park.
The female rhinoceros had
strayed last night from the flood-hit park around 7:00 pm and a search operation was
launched, Divisional Forest Officer Dibyodhar Gogoi
told PTI.
Gun shots were heard
early this morning and a search of the east division of the Karbi Anglong hills
found the pachyderm in a seriously injured state, Gogoi said.
The poachers took away the horn after sawing it off and a part of the right ear and veterinarians were trying to save the rhinoceros, he said.
The carcass of another
rhinoceros was recovered during the day from the Bagori range of the park with
its horn sawed off, park sources said. – PTI
