Often we feel happy when we are given attention at any temple for being either a rich person, writer, donor, great personality or known devotee. We get special treatment and are ushered to have darshan of the idol we have come to pay respect, earlier than so many other devotees waiting for darshan. We feel happy if we are able to have our Sadguru or Gods darshan so easily and to our hearts content. This experience we share with our friends and family with lot of happiness. I too did it many a times until today when I was reading a book and realized my mistake. We want to walk on the path of divinity and don't look at our own ego in small actions of ours. Just felt like sharing the story with all………………………………………

A Rebuke for Royalty

Malojiraje Bhosale was the king of Akkalkot. He was a great devotee of Shri Swami Samarth. However, his devotion was out of respect for Swami Samarth, Malojiraje used to pay regular visits to Swami Samarth. The king Malojiraje was always conscious of his royalty and carried himself with great pomp. Whereas, Swami Samarth the ruler of all the rulers was allergic to faintest of ego. On a thursday King Malojiraje called on Swami Samartha with full royal fanfare.
As soon as Malojiraje bowed Swami Samarth slapped the king and admonished 'Don’t show your wealth to me I crown kings like you everyday'
King Malojiraje was a shrewed person he realized his folly and in the future always visited Shri Swami Samarth without royal splendour. Both king and paupers were the same and nobody escaped Shri Swami Samarth's rebuke when it was in the best interest of the devotee to annihilate his ego.
This apparent incomprehensible action of Shri Swami Samarth has a deeper significance than it appears. It is likely that such physical rebukes by Sadguru or God realized persons are for advancing the devotees or for avoiding severe calamities in the life of the devotees.
