SHRI SAI once said a story about a traveller who was accosted one morning by a demon (rakhshasa) and treated it as a bad omen but moving further on, he saw two wells the sweet water of which slaked his thrust . When he felt hungry he mate a person whose wife provided him food . Feeling happy, the traveller continued his journey and passing thru a dense forest a tiger approached him and being afraid, he hide himself in a cave when SHRI SAI came and instilled courage in him saying ," THE TIGER WOULD NOT HURT YOU UNLLESS YOU HURT HIM SOME WAY". The meaning of this story is : individual self or ego is the traveller, ignorance (AGYANA) is the demon . The food provided is the spiritual teaching. The two wells stand for viveka (right discrimination ) and vairagya (dispassion) The dense forest denotes
the mysterious depths of consciousness . The tiger stands for the dangers that confront a sadhaka whereas only a SADGURU can enlighten him.
